Unity Church of the Triangle
by Neusom Holmes
As
we stand on the edge of awakening, when traditional religion
is fast losing its ability to explain reality or guide and
comfort the seeker, many of us are looking for a place where
our hearts can open and we can deepen our sense of spirit.
For a growing number of people, that place is Unity Church
of the Triangle.
What is Unity? Unity is not easy to explain
because of what may appear to be paradoxes. Grounded in the
teachings of Jesus, Unity gladly embraces the wisdom of other
traditions. Having the form of a church, it advocates spirituality
not dogma. Ministers in the Unity tradition must attend seminary,
but they teach that the truth lies within each individual.
Unity teaches the power of prayer and meditation, not to change
God's mind, but our own. Unity embraces community, yet seeks
to find God within.
Members of Unity Church of the Triangle
come from various faith traditions, including Catholic, Protestant,
Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Native American The diversity
of Unity is held together by non dogmatic underlying beliefs.
- All is in God and God is in All. Beneath
the apparent duality of light and dark, good and evil, there
is a more fundamental unity, a oneness that is divine.
- Each person is a part of the divine.
Each person has the same attributes of the divine - creativity,
wisdom and love.
- The thoughts and feelings we hold create
the experiences we have. As we change our thoughts and feelings
we change our experience.
- Through prayer and meditation we become
more receptive to God and the good that God is constantly
creating.
- Knowledge is not enough, we must put
our understanding into practice.
Led by Reverend Neusom Holmes, Unity Church
of the Triangle has two services each Sunday at 9 and 11 am.
The children have Youth Education during the 11 o'clock service
and childcare is available during the 9AM service. The style
of music varies weekly and is inspiring. Unity Church of the
Triangle offers a variety of classes throughout the year including
the "Power of Now," prosperity, dream analysis,
forgiveness, and meditation. Various support groups (AA, NA,
A Course In Miracles, Zen meditation) meet at the church weekly.
The sanctuary, which seats 200, is available for weddings.
