This is a really good CD album. I have listened to Aphelion by Amethstium (which is the work of Oystein Ramjford) about twenty times, and it holds up well for both background and headphone listening. There are eleven tracks on Aphelion, combining the styles of New Age ambient with World Pop and Futuristic grooves. There is calming space music laid over non-intrusive percussion and rhythms.

Ramjford creates simplistic but memorable melodies utilizing lush atmospheric synthesizers and Gregorian style chants, along with angelic female voices. This album builds a beautiful bridge between exotic dance rhythms and melodic ambient space to take the listener on a unique and memorable journey every time it is listened to.

It can be ordered from: Neurodisc Records, 3801 N. University Dr., Suite 403, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33351. I believe that it can be sampled over the internet as well.
