Time Will Tell.
by Uri Geller
You
know the saying that there's nothing new under the sun? There's
certainly nothing new about psychokinesis, or PK for short.
It is the ability to influence physical objects through the
power of the mind, and the Bible is full of stories involving
it: Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt; Aaron's
rod becoming a serpent and devouring the rods of Pharaoh's
magicians, which had also turned into serpents; and the parting
of the Red Sea when Moses led the children of Israel out of
Egypt, plus many more.
Some of the world' s ancient mysteries
can also be explained if you believe in PK. Maybe the pyramids
were built with the help of levitation, which enabled the
Ancient Egyptians to maneuver those heavy stones and set them
in exactly the right position? Stonehenge is another piece
of ancient architecture that has a big question mark hanging
over it. How did those huge sarsen stones, the largest of
which are estimated to weigh 50 tons each, get there? The
nearest place with the same type of rock is 39 kilometers
(24 miles) away. How was it possible for Neolithic man to
balance the huge lintels on the upright stones so accurately,
especially as the stones were given mortise and tenon joints
to keep them in place? And how was it possible to position
those huge stones so precisely that they formed a perfect
astronomical calculator which still works today? People say
it was done by making ramps from piles of logs, but I believe
it was through levitation. I simply don't see how it could
have been done any other way: Even today, engineers would
have a hard job trying to move 50-ton blocks of stone around.
Believing PK Can Happen
There are two things for which I am most
famous - telepathy and psychokinesis. When my powers were
first publicized, people reacted as if nothing like this had
ever happened before, yet in Russia scientists have been investigating
PK for many years. Nina Kulagina was a Russian housewife who
discovered her PK abilities quite by chance, and was able
to develop them enough to move pens, matchsticks and compass
needles. One of my most dramatic experiences of PK made headlines
all over the world-twice. In 1989 I stopped Big Ben by mental
power. This clock is one of Britain's most famous landmarks,
and is renowned for its extremely sensitive mechanism. The
same thing happened when I tried the experiment again in Israel
in 1994. A maintenance engineer said Big Ben had stopped because
of a tight bearing in the clock movement, but I wonder.
Everything in life that is worthwhile
takes time, so please be patient because psychokinetic abilities
don't arrive overnight. Even if you never manage to activate
your dormant psychokinetic powers, that doesn't mean they
aren't there or that you're a failure. You may find instead
that you're particularly good at some of the other psychic
techniques.
When I teach children up to the age of
seven how to bend spoons, they do it easily: Spoons, forks,
keys and other metal objects all perform perfectly for them.
Do you know why? It's because they believe they can
do it. They haven't yet learned to believe that they can't
do it, which is how a lot of adults think. So before you start
these experiments, block out those so-called rational thoughts
that say "This is impossible."
Developing Your PK Ability
There aren't any warming-up exercises
for PK, although the more you awaken your ESP and other powers,
the more likely you are to succeed with PK. First of all,
you have to choose a suitable object for psychokinesis. It's
good to start with a broken watch or clock, because it will
be easy to see if you're having any effect on it. You can
also try to mend a broken home appliance.
First of all, wind up the watch even
though it is broken. Hold it in your hands and concentrate
on it. Be very open-minded. Do not be skeptical-we're going
to make this happen. On the count of three you are going to
shout the word "work." By doing this you can activate
your energy that can penetrate the broken watch, so shout
out "One, two, three, WORK!" Do this three times,
and really believe in it. Now open your hand and look at the
watch. Is the second hand moving? Lift the watch to your ear
and listen. Can you hear a tick?
Don't be discouraged if nothing happens
because PK doesn't always work, especially if it's the first
time you've ever tried it. I can assure you that I have days
when PK won't work. If you're not having any luck, try again
another day. Try it with your friends or some children, who
can be particularly good at psychokinesis because they don't
do it with any preconceived notions that it's impossible.
Make a big heap of all your broken watches and clocks, wind
them all up, then get everyone to sit in a circle and concentrate.
You may find you can't activate your PK abilities when you're
by yourself but that they work well when you're with other
people.
