About the Reviewers:

Ordained as an Interfaith Minister in 1997,
Kellie R. Love has been a student/teacher of A Course In Miracles since pre-publication days in 1975. He has conducted weekly classes in ACIM since 1982, and has presented lectures and discussions at many conferences across the country. In 1982, he recorded The Course as a talking book, with cassettes distributed internationally for many years. Today, he serves on the board of the Joe Janis Foundation for A Course in Miracles and continues to lead the oldest, continuous study group in the world in Chapel Hill.

Cindy Draughon lives in Clayton, NC, with pets Angel and Bosley. (We're manifesting Charlie!) She is a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none, but does have a particular fondness for English, Science, Nature and Metaphysics. Sometimes an urge to stir the primordial soup results in putting pen to paper and organizing the laws of physics and spirituality into something readable and perhaps usable. She can be reached at bluefeather11@hotmail.com

The Disappearance
of the Universe: Straight Talk About Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness

Gary R. Renard, 2003
Fearless Books, Berkeley , CA

Several years ago, Gary Renard was working alone in his cabin in Vermont . He glanced up to discover a mysterious couple sitting on his couch. They introduced themselves as Arten and Pursah, two ascended masters who had materialized in response to his earnest prayers for help in dealing with his life.

The rest of this book is an amazing dialogue between a worldly and immature professional guitarist (Gary) and his guests who identified themselves as formerly Saint Thomas and Saint Thaddeus, disciples and confidants of the historical Jesus. They quickly dispose of the Christianity we know as a fabricated misunderstanding of the real teachings of Jesus (“J” as they call him). They review ancient history with the fresh new perspective of an “I was there” participant. Ultimately, Arten and Pursah reveal that “J”s true teachings are revealed in A Course in Miracles, but are concerned that even now many students misunderstand and misinterpret the true importance of its meaning. They carefully tutor Gary into a new level of wisdom with many examples and illustrations.

The title, Disappearance of the Universe, derives from the fact that reality is non-dualistic. Some of the consequences of this are that all that is not God itself is an illusion and has no existence. That includes the world, its contents, animals, bodies — everything! Only those spiritual beings, created by God, exist and share a oneness with the Creator. This includes our true nature as spiritual beings. Ultimately the entire illusion must disappear and we, the one Son of God, will return to our Source.

Recreating Eden:
The Exquisitely Simple, Divinely Ordained Plan for Transforming Your Life and Your Planet

Julia Rogers Hamrick, 2004
New Realities Publishing

Just imagine for a moment what living in Paradise might mean. Is it a place, to you, or more of a feeling? Contemplating an idyllic life far removed from the present can certainly make NOW seem a little depressing, but Julia Rogers Hamrick shows us a way to create Heaven right here on earth. In Recreating Eden, she describes how her own life-threatening illness and miraculous recovery led to a connection with the Divine that instantly changed her perception and conception of life and left her with a vision for the future.

Hamrick describes how orienting toward Spirit creates a particular flow of energy in an around us that is much like an electronic circuit. Since this same principle is prevalent throughout the mechanical world it is easily demonstrated with magnets. If our orientation is toward Spirit, i.e., our negative pole to Spirit's positive, we become open vessels receiving energy that cannot help but flow outward. The interesting visual is how we would all line up, like magnets, if we had the same orientation toward Spirit. The energy of each person would increase by virtue of Spirit flowing into our lives, which would then affect our surroundings and, eventually, the 100th monkey syndrome would kick in and shift the entire look and feel here on earth because the frequency would be much higher. Scientific fact.

Hamrick touches on life circumstances and situations that tend to switch our orientation—like that annoying person getting all your attention as you attempt not to judge. Electronically, that shuts down the circuit and Spirit can no longer flow through us. In fact, our energy begins to radiate outward, which effectively repels both Spirit and those receptive to Spirit! Hamrick suggests that when it becomes difficult to accept another person or situation, love the Spirit in ourselves. Orient always towards Love.

While Hamrick draws clear relationships between Spirit, energy and us, what I found most fascinating about this book is the sense that we can adopt this technique with the clear intent of creating Paradise here on earth. We can actually intend to be of service to humanity and consciously choose to orient to Spirit, therefore lifting both others and the earth with our vibration. The pay-off? As Hamrick says, ease is the M.O. of Spirit. And aren't we all looking for a little more bliss?
