Ordering from the Cosmic Kitchen: The Essential Guide to Powerful Nourishing AffirmationsHave you ever thought that each day of our lives is like a menu at our favorite restaurant and we get to choose whatever we want? In Ordering from the Cosmic Kitchen Patricia Crane uses this wonderful metaphor to give a new twist in understanding the Law of Attraction. Since dining out is one of my favorite things to do, I was easily engaged.

Here's how the Law of Attraction works from the perspective of the Cosmic Kitchen. When we look at a menu in a restaurant we don't tell the waitress what we don't want, or say "just bring me anything." We read the menu, narrowing it down to a few choices and then place our order. The waitress takes our order to the kitchen and the chef takes it from there. Rather than check to see if it's being prepared correctly, we trust, knowing it will be served to us when ready, and it is.

When we order from the "Menu of Life," being specific is just as important, including trusting that it will be brought to us at exactly the right time. The feelings we put into the order we place, which is actually an affirmation, are very important too, suggests Dr. Crane. I've been working with these principles for many years myself and found this to be true. More often than not, I would prefer that my order arrive pronto, impatient as I can be, but when it does it's obvious that it came at just the perfect time. I may have needed more clarity on what I actually wanted or a stronger feeling of it, or even a deeper trust that the Universe would bring it to me. In any case feelings, trust and timing play a critical role.

The Cosmic Kitchen theme begins with the starters, eight principles that cover the practical how to's in understanding the kitchen and chef. Next the entrees delve into specific areas that are universal to everyone's life: health, relationships, money, career, housing and others. When it comes to dessert sometimes lemons are on the menu too, but things are not always as they appear. In the process, uncovering negative messages and inner child issues are brought to the surface gently, in a non-threatening way. I found myself continually moving towards embodying positive thought as the book gave me opportunities to practice using the principles for placing orders.

Although her presentation is playful, Patricia candidly shares her personal experiences throughout the book and how she came to understand the Law of Attraction. I always find the honesty of the author to be a fair gauge of the contents. I particularly liked the clever use of the "cosmic kitchen and chef" and its correlation to our spiritual lives.

Dr. Crane travels worldwide certifying workshop facilitators on these principles. She has done intensive training with Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson, among others.

Review by Chris Kuster, who lives in Durham and is a Certified Transformational Workshop Facilitator. She has been successfully practicing the principles of Louise Hay and other metaphysical teachers for many years. Chris has upcoming workshops scheduled in various cities in NC.
