God, is that You?When I first read the title to Katharine C. Giovanni's book it reminded me of the old joke - "Why is it considered sane to talk to God, but crazy if you hear Him talking back?" Thus, you can imagine the courage it took for Giovanni to write this wonderful book. In a very brief but powerful preface she tells us that "It is all about communication, not denomination." So how do you know if the voice in your head is your own voice or that of the Godhead? The anecdotes shared by Giovanni, her family, and her friends state clearly that they knew in the moment of divine communication that it was not their own voice because the words they heard were clear, loving, and interrupted the tumultuousness of their own chaotic thoughts. However, it is this moment of divine communication in times of great stress that Giovanni wants us to understand that we can move beyond. That we can talk to the Divine and the Divine will talk back - in words and ways that we will clearly understand. This is a true how-to book with examples, exercises, and explanations for how to receive the answers to the questions burning within you. Whether it is the sound of your own voice or the sound of the voice of the Divine, learning to listen is the key to utilizing this power of sound in personal transformation.
