The Body/Mind Health Corner™

Dear Mr. Rogat:

What is the positive thought to manifest to promote healing of post traumatic stress? I was in a near fatal car accident over a year ago, I suffered a mild brain trauma from which I am still recovering. Four months after the accident I needed surgery to remove uterine fibroids. The operation was successful. I am now seeing a therapist for post traumatic stress from these events ( I have lost 2 jobs since the car accident & haven't been in a relationship since the car wreck). I feel tired, sad & scared all the time. I don't feel lucky to have survived. I know this won't last forever but it sure feels like it will. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Sincerely, Loretta

Dear Loretta:

Post traumatic stress (PTSD) is a result of the fear of death. It can result in "soul loss", a term used when referring to losing a part of our spirit. Basically, the last place we want to be during a trauma is in the body. We leave, and can then have trouble getting back in. Sometimes we may feel that it is not safe to be in the body.  A Shamanic technique called "soul retrieval" may be valuable in this case. It can help you to become more "whole".

Additionally, we have found that many car accidents are a result of unacknowledged anger toward someone. During that time in your life you were feeling separate from, or taken advantage of by, a person in your life. This could have been in the job area or personal life. Acknowledge that it is now YOUR choice to leave that person, and to change that relationship, regardless of whose "choice" it was in the past. Then bless that person for taking care of him or herself, even if it was done inappropriately. Now that you are without a significant personal relationship, see what it was within the past relationship that was balancing you, and get that balance back within yourself. Once again it means you now have the opportunity to become more "whole".

The uterine fibroid tumors are "small growths" within the reproductive organs. They are analogous to an "un-natural" pregnancy. It is time to identify your self with something other than being or wanting to be a good mother. You are a Spiritual being trying to learn to love yourself and others, just like the rest of us poor slobs out here.

Finding and experiencing the wholeness within will help to more quickly heal the traumas of the car accident. Finding and experiencing a Higher, more truthful, identity will help to more quickly heal the trauma of the uterine fibroids.  I am glad you are in therapy at this point. It WILL help! Project yourself into the future, look back on this time of your life, and see yourself gaining wholeness. See it, feel it, hear it, heal it!

Positive Thought To Manifest: I accept myself as a loving Spiritual being. I express my aliveness in the perfect form, with the perfect people.

Even the feeling that the "disability" is permanent, is temporary.  You can and ARE taking care of yourself, even if it IS with a lot of help.
