Astrology by David Weatherly
April/May 2004
April and May bring opportunities to look
inward and discover the true calling of your spirit. With
much of the world around us in seeming chaos, it is now vital
that we each look within in order to understand that which
is around us. This period of introspection can reveal many
potentials within to further empower you in the coming months.
This time of inner searching will blend with the active social
energy and the inevitable "spring fever." There
is a careful balance here that can bring a divine equality
between the physical world and the light of the inner spirit.
We have a Mercury retrograde period to deal
with this spring. The planet moves backwards April 6th and
will remain that way until April 29th. During this retrograde
time, be cautious with agreements, contracts and all types
of paperwork or official documents. It is always best to plan
things out ahead of time so there are fewer complications
during this movement of Mercury. This is also a time to be
cautious during travel has minor disruptions can arise.
Venus and Mars will both be in Gemini in
April and through the beginning of May. This is a good time
to develop relationships to a stronger degree, especially
on the intellectual level. Making new contacts on both a professional
and a personal level is vital and this is an excellent period
to socialize. Communication is important, so be clear with
your needs and the direction you would like to see things
go in new relationships. Old partnerships can be developed
to a deeper degree. The clear energy of spring will bring
about a desire to be active and will energize your life.
Venus in Gemini, the sign of the twins,
lends itself to social activity and mental stimulation. This
is a good period to join discussion groups and participate
in conferences centered on your area of interest. On May 17th,
the planet of love turns retrograde. This could cause minor
confusion in relationships, especially newer ones. Be conscious
and spend extra time communicating with your partner.
On May 8th, Mars will move into Cancer,
not a good placement for the fiery planet. This mix of the
active nature of Mars and the watery nature of Cancer produces
a lot of steam. This can add to the general domestic unrest
so be careful not to get drawn into arguments and minor disagreements.
Fortunately, Mars moves quickly and the early degrees are
the most difficult this month. Direct the energy into home-based
projects and the planning of family-related events, and the
energy of this transit will be eased.
Jupiter has been retrograde since January.
The planet will turn direct on the 5th of May. This forward
movement is a positive change, and its effects will carry
into the summer. Vacation planning will be well underway,
and a more positive feeling about finances will be present.
The economy gets a small boost that will aid in its slow uphill
climb. In May, pay close attention to business opportunities.
New business development is good this Spring, and it is possible
to get in on the ground floor of some excellent enterprises.
Additionally, May is a good time to launch or expand home-based
businesses.
April and May both show potential for terrorist
attacks. Use extra caution when traveling from mid-April through
the first week of May. There is also a high potential for
large earthquakes in May. California and the Middle East in
particular are areas of high risk. Extra light and peace should
be directed toward both of these areas to help prevent this
upheaval.
Saturn continues its journey in Cancer,
stirring up the domestic tranquility of the United States.
This is having an effect on a personal level, especially for
those with Sun or Saturn in Cancer. There is also a national
effect since the U.S. natal sun is placed in Cancer. The current
administration can expect continued unrest from the populace
regarding our country's involvement in situations overseas.
With governments around the world shifting and going through
turmoil, there is a precarious balance between helping and
interfering. The United States will continue to have its role
as the "world's peacekeepers" challenged both from
the outside and from within.
Much of the country's focus is already shifting
to the coming fall presidential election. With Neptune in
Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces, these outer planets are having
a key influence on politics. Humanitarian issues are playing
an important role in the country's attitude towards its leaders.
As those in power struggle to make their message clear, the
public is anxious for long overdue solutions to domestic problems.
This is a manifestation of the Aquarian age as the energy
transforms the consciousness of the people at a deeper level.
April and May offer a wonderful opportunity
to bring the divine balance to our individual yin/yang and,
in turn, use this energy to add to the balance of the ever
changing world. Find the light of your inner spirit and realize
that its power can penetrate any darkness that surrounds your
life. With this light, this pure love, all things are possible.
