Angel Crossing is a terrific read! The story as relayed in the book covers a 5 day period of hiking in the North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains, during which a chance meeting with a mysterious "angelic" character launches Susan into a series of transcendent experiences. While the book may seem fictional, Angel Crossing compresses into a five-day story over 25 years of Susan’s experiences and realizations since she awakened spiritually. is a terrific read!

It is a deceptively simple book that really packs a wallop! In her telling of the story, Susan reacts in a most human way (at times in sheer panic) when "otherworldly" experiences start intruding into her everyday life. The truthfulness of her reactions really resonates. I could feel her human-level panic at being pulled out of her body and finding herself on the ceiling of a motel room, and could appreciate her bewilderment when realizing she is face-to-face with Jesus. Susan’s background as a police officer lends an aura of truthfulness to the telling of these seemingly fictitious happenings.

The book is charmingly written, with beautiful descriptions of the trails around Grandfather Mountain. Each day’s hiking introduces us to yet another beautiful vista and helps those of us who don’t hike better understand the attraction for those who do. It is also interesting that Susan uses the actual mountains to help illustrate the metaphoric climb that "pilgrims" experience when they open to their own spiritual growth.

The real power of the book is the manner in which "spiritual truth" is expressed. Her telling is so clear, complete and forthright that the reader easily "gets it." I have read literally hundreds of books on spirituality and metaphysics, and this is one of the best! Susan’s explanations of spiritual truth are spare, clean, pure and immediately accessible to the reader. Spiritual truth literally moves through her words on the page into the reader’s consciousness.

It is a book I will give to friends, family and clients. Once you begin reading, you don't want to put it down. I had to make myself wait until the next day to finish it because I didn't want the experience of reading the book to end. Give yourself a gift and buy this book!

Susan will have an Angel Crossing book signing at Dancing Moon in Raleigh, NC on August 12, 2000, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
