Healing From the Inside
By Antoinette Brown, PhD
You’ve been diagnosed. You have so much to think about. There’s a medical treatment plan, alternative medicine options, support groups, and perhaps spiritual assistance. While your total treatment plan will require a team, healing will start with you, and from inside of yourself. Healing yourself from the inside, using the power of attraction, will be an essential part of your healing.
How Do You Heal From the Inside?
To heal from the inside you look to your innermost self to ask for healing and to attract it to yourself. The law of attraction, also known as psychogenesis and prosperity consciousness, has several core principles that you will use. The first is that your thoughts and feelings create your life. The images in your mind are what you are attracting. Your thoughts become things, or events, or people. You may not be aware of what you are attracting, but the process is always in action.
The second principle is that the law of attraction is obedient to your thoughts. You can change the conditions of your life by changing the thoughts and images in your mind. You can facilitate the process of attraction by focusing on the thoughts that you most want to attract. To eliminate what you do not want, you turn your attention away from unwanted people or conditions. As we grow in our knowledge and understanding of the properties of the law of attraction we will be able to use it more effectively.
How Do I Get Started?
How do you start this process? Many authors and teachers suggest several steps to the process of attraction. Not all agree on the number of steps involved. I have tried to present all eight steps that have been suggested by various authors. Use those steps in the process that fit your situation or seem appropriate for your condition. If some part of the process doesn’t feel good, don’t do it. Go on to the next one. Take the necessary steps as they are given to you by your guidance within.
Step One: Decide
The first step to healing from the inside is to decide what it is that you want. To use the law of attraction you must first know what you want to attract. Many people have not identified what it is that they most want. Deciding what you want to attract allows you to focus with passion. Focusing with passion can hasten the process of attraction.
Think of all the changes you would like to see in your life. Decide which goals are important to you. Do you want healing? Do you want to feel better? Do you want more energy, more enthusiasm, or a clear mind? Do you have one goal or twenty goals?
Hold a mental image of those goals you intend to attract. Focus on what makes you feel good. If you are feeling good, you know you are focused on what you want to attract.
Teachers differ on whether or not to share your decisions. While some teachers advise you to keep your decisions to yourself, there are times when other people may have to be brought into the experience. You may decide to embark on a joint enterprise, or seek support from another person such as a teacher, counselor, or mentor.
The danger in sharing your decisions with others is that when we talk to others our power can be weakened by their applause or derision. You can still keep your mental image to yourself in the sense that you do not let the criticism or enthusiasm of others have any effect on your decisions.
Step Two: Ask
Every spiritual tradition tells us that there is an infinite power. The source of supply is this infinite universe and you are a co-creator with this infinite power. You can take the initiative to be a deliberate creator of your life. You do this by making a command to the universe. Ask for what you want to attract.
We only receive by asking. How often we forget to ask for what we want. The universe cannot give you anything until you first ask for it. State what it is that you want to attract. Make a command to the universe. Express your desires in a positive way. For example your goal may be to be healthy in body, mind and spirit now. You may want to have the best possible medical care or the best qualified professionals on your team. Sit down and write your commands out on paper, using the present tense. There are no limits to what you request, so make that list.
Step Three: Believe
Believe that it is yours and receive it. Believe with unwavering faith. You don’t need to know how your desires will manifest. How the result arrives is the domain of the universe. The universe uses people and the natural laws to manifest your desires. Turn it over to the universe. Accept that the results may not come in the way you expect. Results may come to you in unexpected ways.
Unite mentally and emotionally with the good we wish to embody. Act and feel as though what you desire is yours now. Allow yourself to feel the way you will feel when it arrives. Feel happy, joyous, excited, or passionate. Stay focused on your desires. Energy flows where attention goes. Focus on the end result.
Step Four: Eliminate and Release
To begin to attract your desires, first cleanse yourself through elimination and release. To do this, release your attachments to people, relationships and situations that are no longer suitable. Get rid of what you do not want to make way for what you do want. Eliminate thoughts of lacking, thoughts of pain, and thoughts of need. Cleanse also through forgiveness. Release grudges and negative feelings that you may have toward others. Put your life in order so that you are calm and focused. Affirm your inner order first and outer order will follow.
Step Five: Clear Away Mental Blocks
Clear away any mental blocks you have about achieving your goal. Accept that you deserve what it is you desire. Accept that you can change your life. You do not have to be sick or poor or depressed. You can be healthy, preposterous and joyful. It is not too late to attract whatever you can imagine. Replace negative thought patterns with the kinds of positive thoughts that you would like to see taking form in your experience. Be joyful about your new thoughts.
Step Six: Visualize the Results
Visualization is a technique of creating images of what you desire in life. Create your desire mentally, in pictures, in writing, in action, and in words. Use visualization all the time. When you visualize, you materialize. There are many methods you can use.
Visualize mentally
Meditate and create the image in your mind of your request being filled. Think quietly and with conviction on the qualities and objects you wish to attract. See yourself healthy and active. Visualize yourself doing the activities you enjoy. Picture yourself going out with family and friends to the beach or the mountains.
Use your imagination to get in touch with the feelings you will experience when your desire has materialized. Imagine the feelings, sights, sounds and actions that will accompany the manifestation of your commands. The more you think about something, the more power you give that thought to manifest.
Visualize in writing
An affirmation is a positive phrase or word that is used to reprogram the subconscious mind with positive thoughts. An affirmation can be written, spoken or thought repeatedly to help to attract your desires. Use affirmations to assist your positive thoughts to manifest into the physical plane.
Write affirmations about the desires you are attracting. Every declarative statement you make about yourself or your life is an affirmation working in your life, fueled by your belief. Write affirmations that reflect your goal. Affirmations are written as a positive statement and in the present tense. If you desire good health, write I am healthy in body, mind, and spirit.
Visualize in spoken words
Speak affirmations about the desires you are attracting. Repeat the affirmations out loud regularly. Speak your affirmations with confidence. Describe yourself to others only in a positive way. When asked how you are feeling, reply that you are well. When asked how things are going, reply that everything in your life is great and in perfect order.
Visualize in pictures
Use pictures to help you experience receiving your desires. Draw pictures or cut out pictures from magazines and place them on the wall of your bedroom to look at before you fall asleep and again in the morning when you wake up.
Step Seven: Take an inspired action
When your attention is drawn to an action, a person, or idea, follow your attention. The infinite universe is sending you a message. Pay attention to what attracts you. Trust inspired thought. Explore the message. As you keep your attention on your goal, your unconscious mind will fill in the details. Your subconscious mind will bring into your experience the people who are needed to help you, the right opportunities and situations favorable to your goal’s successful conclusion.
Pay attention to the messages you receive from the universe. You might get an inspired message about an action to take. You may be attracted to meet an individual or join a support group. You may be directed to acquire a book or attend a lecture. What you need will be drawn to you as if you are a magnet. Follow up on the inspiration. Do not delay. If what you are doing is consistent with your desire, you will feel good about it and will want to continue. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. The universe will never tell you what to do. You will receive a message and you must decide if it is right for you.
Step Eight: Give thanks for what you have received
Give thanks when a goal is materialized. Give thanks as well along the journey. Recognize when a step in the materialization of your goals has occurred. .You might want to keep a gratitude journal to record your progress.
