Shifting Sands

Highlights:
August's full moon is in Pisces on the 28th
September's full moon is in Aries on the 26th
Solar eclipse on September 11th

As easily as the wind and water can shift the sands of the beach, astrological influences can shift the energies that we are experiencing. Our private lives can be affected by greater streams of change that carry us forward in a constant flow of evolution. As the planets move across the sky in August and September, remember to take a moment to feel the flow that is taking place around you. Gaze deeply and you’ll find that there are major changes beginning in our world.

The Direct Influence
Venus can cause some extremes during this two-month period. Its movement is retrograde in Virgo when August begins, and it moves into Leo on the 10th of the month. While in Virgo, there can be a tendency to overanalyze emotions. You may find yourself questioning your partner’s motives and intentions under this influence. Venus’s transition into Leo brings with it an overly expressive energy. Leo’s flair for the dramatic comes through in the expression of emotions with this placement. Obviously, this is not a time to take serious steps in romantic relationships. In fact, you will ultimately serve both yourself and your partner well if you take a few steps back and make an effort to approach your connection carefully and slowly until after September 8. That’s the day that Venus will turn direct. Even though Leo’s dramatic inclinations will still be felt, the tense reactions should start to filter off as the month moves forward.

On August 8, Mars moves into Gemini. Intellectual and mental energy is the focus of the strong energy of Mars in this position. Ingenuity and resourcefulness are powerful allies during the span of these two months. However, be aware that this placement can create restlessness and irritation. Temper yourself so that arguments don’t arise over trivial subjects.

Jupiter in Sagittarius turns direct on August 7. Religious and spiritual studies are highlighted as the mind opens to new possibilities. Travel for spiritual reasons, or to sacred locations, is especially powerful after September 14.

Saturn spends August in Leo and, on September 3, it will transition into Virgo. Practicality and hard work take the forefront. Rules, regulations and attention to detail become dominate factors, especially in the workplace. Be careful of ill health due to overwork in September. A nagging, nervous energy can lead to digestive problems in the middle of September. Watch your diet as the weather starts to change to avoid long-term difficulties.

Has the summer brought enough strange events and sudden turns in your life? Don’t bet on it slowing down any in the month of August. In fact, it may become even weirder. Neptune still moves retrograde in Aquarius while Uranus moves retrograde in Pisces. These planets both affect group consciousness and cultural directions. Their placements in air and water signs are lending an extra ethereal quality to the world as we continue our journey in the Aquarian age. On a positive note, they are aiding in the new spiritual awakening that continues to take place around the world. The growing pains are not always easy though. The distant planet Pluto reminds us of this as it moves retrograde in Sagittarius. Be aware of old relationships and friendships that have run their course; if you let them linger too long, they could create difficulties in your life. Also be cautious of unusual ailments and contagious viruses in the month of August through early September. Pluto turns direct on September 7, so a light mood will begin to prevail in the following weeks.

The Global Outlook
A major concern during this time frame occurs on the anniversary of 9-11. With both the sun and the new moon in Virgo there will be a solar eclipse. Saturn is also in the sign of Virgo during this time. This combination of energies does not bode well, and there is an extremely high risk of a terrorist attack in the days surrounding this event. Avoid business districts of the major cities. Travel is not advised during this time for obvious reasons. The first 9-11 attack occurred when both the moon and Saturn were in Gemini (the twins, and an air sign). Virgo is an earth sign and influences businesses and organizations. Virgo can also represent the innocent, naive mindset that can be blindsided by unexpected troubles. Hopefully, enough of people can pray, meditate and focus light energy during this period to help avert another serious, fatal event.
