FENG SHUI FUNDAMENTALS with T. Raphael Simons
The Balance of Your Relationship:
Who Goes on Which Side of the Bed?
All things in the world are expressed by Sprit as inter-relations of the polarities, Yin and Yang. The observation of these inter-relations is at the heart of the Chinese astrological and compass methods traditionally used in Feng Shui.
According to one of the two astrological methods used in Feng Shui, each of us was born under a Yin or Yang star. This method helps determine who goes on which side of the bed. It involves simple computations. Please note, the Chinese year for these calculations begins on February 4. Therefore, if you were born between January 1 and February 4, use the year prior to your birth to compute your star. Note as well,
the calculation is different for males and females. Thus,
a male born in 1954 has star 1, a female born in 1954 has star 5;
a male born in 1955 has star 9, a female born in 1955 has star 6;
a male born in 1956 has star 8, a female born in 1956 has star 7;
a male born in 1957 has star 7, a female born in 1957 has star 8;
a male born in 1958 has star 6, a female born in 1958 has star 9;
a male born in 1959 has star 5, a female born in 1959 has star 1;
a male born in 1960 has star 4, a female born in 1960 has star 2;
both males and females born in 1961 have star 3;
a male born in 1962 has star 2, a female born in 1962 has star 4.
If you were born before or after these nine years, add or subtract nine or multiples of nine from your birth year to find your star number. For example, if you were born in 1972, subtracting 9 from 1972 gives you 1963. The star numbers are assigned Yin and Yang values as follows. Think of stars 1, 3, 4, and 9 as Yang, and stars 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 as Yin. If your number is Yang, you go on the Yang side of the bed, if your number is Yin, the opposite holds true.
To determine what's what, stand at the foot of your bed looking toward the head. If the head of the bed is pointing. the Yang person goes on.
North the right hand side
Northeast the left hand side
East the right hand side
Southeast the left hand side
South the left hand side
Southwest the right hand side
West the left hand side
Northwest the right hand side
People positioned correctly enjoy better relations. If both of your star numbers are of the same polarity, no positioning adjustment is necessary.
