A Word from the Editor...
Dear Readers…
This was a surprisingly difficult issue to put together. The original idea was to explore different types of relationships and the “constructs” society wraps them in. You know, those unwritten rules that “they” (whoever “they” are) so helpfully encourage us to follow blindly: Marriage should last forever ~ living together is bad ~ “if he’s getting the milk for free, why buy the cow” ~ marriage is between one man and one woman ~ children should be adopted by a loving heterosexual couple ~ and so on and so on.
Those unwritten rules affect our working lives as well: Is loyalty a two-way street at the workplace, or should workers be loyal to a company until the company is no longer loyal to the worker? Are we working for pay and benefits, or are we working to satisfy a yearning in our soul? Are we treated like adults or children in our work environment?
Alas, we received the FEWEST articles to consider for this issue than in the entire history of Innerchange! Usually we have 10+ articles to consider just on the feature topic! But we received fewer than five for this issue. What does that mean? Are we afraid, or are we simply tired of talking about relationships? It seems the most important aspect of our human existence. We were created because of God’s desire for relationship. The nurturing, peace, and success of our universe depend on the relationships we establish with one another.
Hopefully, the few offerings in this issue will help us remember that we are all connected to one another, and that being kind to one another brings peace to all of us.
Happy Spring, Dear Readers!
