Resynchronize with BodyTalk
by Karen Sorensen CBP, ParBP, CBI
A 16-year-old young man cautiously, bravely, and enthusiastically took a little jog to his mother's car today from the BodyTalk Center. Two weeks ago he came in on crutches, diagnosed by an MRI with a tumor in his knee and a possibility of surgery. His knee had been hurting him off and on since June, but one day it had finally given out as he was jogging.
His mother, familiar with BodyTalk, brought him in for a session just to see if there was anything that could be done before surgery. BodyTalk is not a substitute for medical care. BodyTalk simply ensures a means of reestablishing the body's natural dynamic communication systems at all levels, at a pace and in a way that is non-traumatic, enabling the body to more effectively utilize its own innate healing abilities.
Three days after this young man's BodyTalk session his mother called to say he no longer needed his crutches. One week later, after his second BodyTalk session, he indicated he could “lock his knee” for the first time since June. He could not believe it, especially with his, now revealed, skepticism of BodyTalk! Since his pain was gone, he inquired about jogging again. BodyTalk only works with reestablishing communication, allowing the body to address symptoms, so he was advised to listen to his body's pain signals and then follow his own intuition. He then jogged to the car!
The body has an inborn Innate Wisdom capable of healing itself on all levels. What is the shift that enables the body's own innate healing abilities to address and initiate healing symptoms that seem to have been overlooked? The body-mind has a vast magnificent system, or intelligence, or wisdom, responsible for and capable of synchronizing billions of activities per second to maintain optimal health. Pulses, nerves, cellular mechanics, metabolism, digestion, endocrines and hormones, meridians, chakras, thoughts, emotions, hunger signals, pain signals… all synchronized by the brain and conducted by the Innate Wisdom. So why do we seem to heal sometimes and not others?
Stress, environmental factors, toxins, emotional traumas and memories all play hard on the communication circuits of the body. Like a circuit breaker, overload happens and circuits shut down. When the circuit is shut down the brain loses its ability to receive the message that there is a ‘problem,' and it goes about doing its amazing job of multitasking, while the Innate Wisdom of the body starts sending signals—SYMPTOM!
Sometimes they are small signals, like headaches, or nausea, and sometimes if we overlook the little signals, they get louder, and disease sets in. If we stop for a moment and look at the word dis-ease, all that is being indicated here is there is a lack of ease… in the body's communication systems that synchronize and initiate healing?
The BodyTalk System utilizes neuro-muscular bio-feedback to work with the body's own Innate Wisdom to synchronize communication within the many systems of the body-mind. When communication is restored, respecting the unique requirements of each individual, the body can balance itself, adapt to the stresses in life, and synchronize its activities. This results in an enhanced ability to heal on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.
What makes BodyTalk so effective is it relies on the body to heal itself, in exactly the right sequence necessary to reestablish a dynamically functioning system. The BodyTalk Practitioner does not treat, diagnose, or offer remedies or cures of any sort. The therapeutic ramifications of BodyTalk have no direct bearing on the practitioner's role as intermediary. The BodyTalk Practitioner is not ‘thinking up' these communication links, and is not ‘causing' these links to bring about healing.
The concept of balancing the body by means of drawing on its own Innate Wisdom and ability to heal itself is one of the most important breakthroughs in modern health. Now we can begin to respect the body's awesome Innate Wisdom, utilize that knowledge, and work with it. Imagine that we think we have the knowledge to tell the body how to do its job!
