“I love to paint what my mind's eye sees, because that is the most original source, and yet it's the source that connects us all. The beauty and light that emanate from these scenes inspire me to express through paint on canvas. Dream Cake has many layers of meaning: a woman's sensitive independence (her heart is on her sleeve, yet she confidently scans the vastness beyond her); protection in the vast dance of spirit (the tree supports her and a friendly figure approaches from the left carrying an umbrella). I love the image of the umbrella. It's a portable shelter that allows an uninterrupted 360o view. I also enjoy the suggestion of a veil or curtain, representing a portal to mystical realms."
